Hand-Painted, Hand-Dyed Yarns
Welcome! I am a weaver and textile artist from Bloomington, Indiana. I am currently hand-dyeing 5/2 Tencel yarn. Tencel is a brand name for lyocell, a cellulosic fiber similar to bamboo or rayon, and is considered environmentally friendly in its production. It is very soft, has a satin sheen, and a beautiful drape. Tencel yarn dyes radiantly and makes stunning garments.
5/2 refers to the gauge and ply of the yarn. It is a 2-ply yarn that is considered "fingering weight" or approx. 2100 yards per pound. I recommend a weaving sett of 16-20 ends per inch (epi) for plain weave, up to 24 epi for twills.
I love bringing color into my life as much as possible, and dyeing this yarn is a joy. As an artist, I also enjoy collaboration. I look forward to seeing how my one-of-a-kind yarns inspire your unique creations!
Since these yarns are hand-dyed, please make sure to order enough yarn to complete your project to guarantee a color match. If you need more than what is available, please contact me and I will dye the quantity you need. Hand-painted yarns will always vary.
